The Spanish village where the August 12 solar eclipse will last the longest: an official stop on the Camino de Santiago
This small village in Asturias, on the Cantabrian coast, is one of the most sought-after locations to enjoy this astronomical event. A total solar eclipse will be visible in Spain on August 12. This event hasn't occurred for over a century. As a result, many people are searching for the best locations to witness this majestic event. This isn't just of interest to Spaniards; international tourism has also surged around the date of the eclipse.------
Although it will be visible from many points on the Iberian Peninsula, the view will vary. Galicia, Asturias, Castile and León, the Community of Madrid, Castile-La Mancha, Cantabria, La Rioja, the Basque Country, Navarre, Aragon, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, and the Balearic Islands are the autonomous communities from which the eclipse will be visible. However, there is a place in Asturias where its inhabitants will be able to witness the eclipse for almost two minutes.------
A rural paradise
This town is called Navia and is located about 100 kilometers from Oviedo and just fourteen kilometers from the border with Galicia. With a population of around 8,000, it has become one of the most sought-after locations to enjoy this astronomical event. From this small village, the sun will be obscured for 1 minute and 51 seconds. The event will begin at 7:31:02 PM in its partial phase, and the much-anticipated total eclipse will begin at 8:26:55 PM. The total eclipse will last until 8:28:46 PM and will end completely at 9:21:14 PM. All of this is based on data provided by The Sky Live.------
